PROJECT OVERVIEW
A protected space for the dual body
Bodies In-Between was an intersectional participatory lab for Eastern European artists and researchers, co-created and led by Olga Macrinici and Attila Andrási at the University of the Arts London.
Egynapos kollaboratív műhely, amely a drag, a szomatikus kották és az improvizáció segítségével vizsgálja a vitatott láthatóságot, a kulturális összetartozást és a megtestesült interszekcionális gyakorlatot.
WORKSHOP PRACTICE
Grounding and body mapping
The day began with a somatic grounding session, creating the sensory safety needed to arrive fully in the room. Participants then used body territory mapping to explore biography, relationship, and the imagined drag character.
MATERIALISING THE DUALITY
From the conceptual to the material
After the break, participants worked with basic feminine and masculine drag makeup techniques, physically constructing the personas they had mapped. Mundane actions in character made visible the shifting relationship between posture, gesture, and the everyday self.
RESEARCH OUTCOMES
A collaborative blueprint
The lab established a successful blueprint for future interdisciplinary workshops and joint research inquiries. It also created a networking hub for Eastern European creatives and researchers, reducing the isolation that can accompany transnational practice.
